The relevance of climate change for the financial sector is becoming increasingly visible. This course gives participants an overview of the mechanisms of climate change models and metrics and discusses if and how climate risks can translate into financial risks.

Goal
Participants of the course gain an in-depth understanding of contributing factors to climate-related risks, such as specific industries and sectors (energy, technology and innovation). Based on existing policy frameworks, the course discusses possibilities of mitigation and adaptation by illustrating different market mechanisms (e.g. taxation, carbon pricing) and identifying the bearing of the private sector (focus on tools to assess physical and transition risk and climate impact) and the finance industry (banks and insurances).

Target audience and qualifications
The target audience are people working in the financial industry, especially those with an interest in learning more about how climate risks can translate into financial risks. Participants have a graduate degree and several years of working experience.
